Our overall goal is based around our SDG which is Affordable and clean energy, this sustainable goal is supposed to be achievable by 2030 which means that everyone will need to play their role in creating a clean and affordable lifestyle for everyone. Within a goal, their needs to be certain targets set so that they are achievable and so that the goal covers all angles of the clean energy idea. here are some targets set within the 7th SDG:

By 2030, ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services

By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.

By 2030, expand infrastructure and upgrade technology for supplying modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries, in particular, least developed countries, small island developing States, and land-locked developing countries, in accordance with their respective programs of support
These targets create different steps that we can take to achieve our goal. These targets are quite broad as they are talking about the global impact and they are also quite costly, this is in fact why so many people are reluctant to go out of their way to invest or see a future in renewable energy because of its massive initial cost and it's seemingly complicated setup.
